Session 32

Griffin is still 18 feet tall. This is gonna be interesting. Sadie is also here.

We roll Insight. Shane is upset by how high we are. That's a lot of spiders, that's a lot of drow, everything is just happening so much. Shane is filled with Regret and just wants to go home. He's thinking about the text he got from Chadwick right before we left for the Feywyld about all the episodes of Bleach he downloaded and wants to watch with Shane later. The rest of us get the feeling that if we make any sudden hostile moves, someone we care about is going to die.

The Keystone is a ceramic, plain-looking bell. It does have a large sapphire set into the handle which is probably why Goose Jericho stole it.

Brockhopper hops off his drider and grandstands some more. We roll to Perceive. Deulara is looking at the Bell more than she's looking at anything else. Taknuss convinces Jericho to descend from where he flew up out of his Darkness bubble so they can chat.

He wants to alter the deal because Jericho didn't give him the bell, Jericho's mom did. He needs Citron for one last thing. He unbinds Citron's hands and gives him the bell; he needs Citron to ring the bell.

Inky wants to roll an Arcana check to see if Jericho might be able to figure out what would happen if the bell was destroyed. Jericho and Pip peek at the bell and they realize that it's not a bell of summoning, it's literally the seal of the gate. If the bell is destroyed, the gate opens regardless. It'd be like turning on a faucet and then breaking it.

We accidentally skipped the cut scene.

Actually, according to Sadie, Citron is the reincarnation of Estella Proudsong. Taknuss gives us a little primer on how reincarnation works. The bell is attuned to Citron's soul, which means he's the only one who can open the Gate.

As a Divination Wizard, Sadie can get glimpses into past lives. Her dreams drew her to Citron. Brockhopper sent her in to meet Citron.

Taknuss is going to let Delaura drop Sadie off the tree unless Citron rings the bell.

So Citron rings the bell, and nothing appears to happen.

Shane goes off on Brockhopper and one of the drow near us stabs Shane to make him shut up. He takes 10 damage.

Delaura casts Amplify on the bell.

Citron rings it again, and the sound that comes from it is deafening. It rocks the Drasil tree. It can very obviously be heard down in Midshade - it's booming gongs. The force of the soundwaves causes Citron to drop the bell. It falls off the branch, but a drider catches it.

Everyone with the exception of Shane manages to stay standing with a Dex save. Shane falls over and starts to roll off the branch. Griffin manages to catch him.

Below us, the city of Midshade starts to rumble.

Taknuss makes a shitty asshole villain speech and scuttles off with the drow.

Jericho manages to persuade Genie to tell us what she wanted. It wasn't Citron; Genie helped Taknuss so that he wouldn't kill Jericho. There is a long awkward silence.

Anyway.

Sadie and Citron have A Moment.

Jericho: We've got an 18 foot tall tiefling and a Fly spell.

We can get down quickly if Nellie casts Fly on 18ft tall Griffin and everybody rides the Griffin Express down.

Crimeny suggests falling halfway down before flying because terminal velocity is faster than max fly speed.

Ryo: Crimeny is a robot, he does know math.

Genie and Jericho ride down completely stoney faced. Pip and Serra are screaming like they're on a roller coaster. Shane manages to not pee himself.

As we fly through Midshade everybody rolls perception. People seem to be running away from Proudsong Manor. Crimeny and Pip catch glimpses of people falling to the ground as if things are tackling them. Every now and then Pip catches glimpses of the spiders she saw while she was high on pixie stix.

We get to Proudsong Manor super fast! :D

People are evacuating. Some of the fighters and guards are dealing with the spiders. Citron hops off of the Griffin Express and runs to the front door. Jericho claims the killing blow on Taknuss. Crimeny claims the drow priestess.

Griffin lands and sets everyone down - Citron runs into Calico!

We need to evacuate Proudsong Manor. But we also need to save Nyra.

Jericho asks for someone who's real good at Illusion magic. Per Calico, that would be Adelaide Boffin. Maybe we'll meet her.

We split the party - Jericho takes everybody except Griffin to help evacuate and get people to the Redglimmer Offices, and Griffin goes with Calico to find and save Nyra.

Everyone else does Investigation rolls to see how well they do at finding and herding people to the Redglimmer offices.

Then everybody rolls Medicine to see how well they help the people they find. Serra goes into Crisis Mode and triages the hell out of everyone they find. The party saves everyone who is evacuating.

Then everyone rolls good Survival and manages to evacuate everyone they find to the Redglimmer offices. :D

Griffin, Calico, and Citron enter the Proudsong main citadel. Citron gives Griffin Bardic Inspiration. As we make our way through the manor. In the foyer is a door clearly leading down to the basement - Fey spiders of all sizes are pouring out of there.

Griffin Investigates to find good shit to block the doorway. Griffin notices a load-bearing beam that will crumble the stairwell area and block it off. He rugby tackles the beam and smashes the doorway.

We go upstairs, and see quite a few gnomes that didn't make it. We make our way to the Proudsong Interrogation Room, and still don't find Nyra. Citron is upset because we haven't found her yet, and leads us up some more stairs. We go into Nyra Proudsong's bedroom.

17 Investigation to find Nyra. In the corner, Griffin spots some rubble. There's a space behind the rocks where some coughing can be heard. Griffin starts clearing away the rubble, and slowly reveals Nyra Proudsong - alive, but very badly hurt. Citron is immediately at her side. Griffin somehow rolls a 16 Medicine check to determine that she's very badly hurt and needs help. Griffin gives her both of his Minor Healing Potions, which is enough to stabilize her. Then he picks her up, and we get her the fuck out of there. With Calico's help and Griffin's Nat 20+1 Survival roll, (:'D) they make their way safely back to the Redglimmer offices.

As we get to the Redglimmer courtyard, we hear a bird cry and spot the Roc that probably belongs to the nest filled with Bells. Riding on its back is Firo! :D He joins back up with us.

It's time for a meeting in Calico's office.

Jericho: We need to unring the bell.

Citron and Sadie show up late for the party. Citron can close the door, but Sadie doesn't think Melarue is going to let us seal her away again. We're going to have to Deal With Her.

Shane suggests making a new bell. Sadie thinks that we could do that, but we'd have to replicate the abyss symbol and enchant it. We'd need some kind of sealing spell strong enough to close a gate. Could the technology Interplay uses on their gates be used to close it off?

Calico can get in touch with Interplay, but she's not sure they'll want to help...Just tell them two words: Brainstealer Dragon, and Jericho needs a little help.

Can Adelade cast an illusion of the full moon so convincing even he won't be able to tell it's not real? We can sic Goose Jericho on the invading force.

Griffin asks if anyone can cast Daylight, but that is not a skill these particular mafioso possess. Jericho wishes he hadn't left his swamp witch in the Louisiana bayou.

Nellie suggests fireworks for after the sun sets to blind the drow :D

So the Proudsongs can set off fireworks around the perimeter of Midshade while The Crew storm the castle and deal with Melarue.

Citron, Sadie, and Firo are coming too.

Re: Firo and Majnab, Jericho has to know: Is this a weird sex thing?! Sadie tells him - On one side it kind of is.

As we get ready to leave, one of Calico's men ushers in The Midsummer Knights. Moth tries to tackle Firo, but Firo sidesteps him. Moth and the boys brought Big Brother Firo a Special Delivery. They all have vials of Something. Most of us hope that it's whiskey. Shane and Pippinella recognize it as water from the Drasil tree. However, these vials are glowing. Moth recognizes Jericho as the guy who put him in the dumpster. Weirdly still does not associate Griffin with the dumpster.

Firo tells Moth to give them to us. Jericho chugs his. Griffin keeps his. The potion will remain potent for 24 hours.

We rest for about 1-1.5 hours. Around us all of Calico's men and the men of the other various clans rush about. Calico uses her resources to get in touch with someone from Interplay. We hang out in our rooms, we can see from the windows that the sun is beginning to set. We've got maybe an hour before it's officially nighttime. No clubs seem to be opening up tonight; Midshade is in a weird limbo where there's some activity on the streets, people are mostly too scared to go out, which honestly is wise.

Calico got in touch with somebody from Interplay, and she got to talk to Watkins. He was Professional. There are people at Interplay who can recreate the Asylum Symbol, but we'll be cutting it close.

Calico can provide a small escort to the Proudsong Manor. They guide us thru the streets. The faerie fire lights that normally light up the town at this time of night are out. As we go along we notice more and more fae spiders, and drow, slinking through the shadows, spider webs appearing between buildings and cutting off some paths.

As we enter the courtyard, we see some big ol' spiders (Phase Spiders), some smaller spider swarms, and two drow.

ROUND 1
  - PS2 starts to approach, and then disappears.
  - Drow 1 comes down the steps
  - Swarm 2 moves towards the path
  - PS1 attacks Griffin with a 19 for 12 damage. He Con saves and takes 8 Poison damage.
  - Serra runs in front of Jericho and casts Sacred Flame on PS1 for 11 damage.
  - S1 moves closer.
  - D2 comes down the steps
  - Jericho moves to stab PS1 with his fancy new rapier. He hits with a 23 for 7 damage, and a 21 to hit again for 10 damage.
  - PS4 goes invisible.
  - Crimeny shoots PS1 - they cast DDoS and hit with two unnat 20s for 30 damage and murders the shit out of it.
  - PS3 goes invisible.
  - Shane casts Eldritch Blast on S1. He hits with a 24 and does 22 damage. He obliterates it, and takes cover behind the tree to his right.
  - Pip casts Chill Touch on S2 - she punches the spiders with a skeletal hand and hits with a 22 for 9 damage. The skeletal hand slams down on the swarm like a wallmaster and scatters it
  - Griffin shoots at D1 but misses :'D. He stays near his friends.

ROUND 2
  - PS2 attacks Serra from above with an ominous chittering. It hits with a 22 and deals 9 Piercing damage. She Con saves and takes 8 poison damage.
  - D1 attacks Griffin with a longbow but misses both times. His friend says "Way to go, Deadeye."
  - S2 skitters down the path some more.
  - Serra casts Sacred Flame on PS2. It failed its Dex save and takes 14 damage.
  - D2 looks at Jericho, Crimeny, and Griffin (Jericho flips her off), and she casts Ice Storm centered between the three boys. We all Dex save like good dodge boys and take half damage - 7 Bludgeoning and 10 Cold damage. She calls Jericho a useless Fae Beast in Undercommon.
  - Jericho casts Fireball on the drow. They both Dex save and take half damage - 21 fire damage. He shouts "Come at me!" to them in Sylvan. "I'm gonna kill you! And then I'm gonna kill your boss! And then I'm gonna kill, I guess your grandma?" And then he takes cover behind some trees. Then he bardically Inspires Griffin.
  - PS4 drools on Shane. Then it bites his head. It hits with a 17. He takes 8 piercing damage and failed his Con save and takes 19 poison damage. He uses his reaction to cast Misty Escape. His new house is a tree to the east.
  - Crimeny sneak attacks PS2 with an unnatural 20 and an 18, since it's hanging out next to Serra. They do 26 damage, Bonus Action to Hide, and creeps forward ahead of Jericho some more.
  - PS3 attempts to perceive Crimeny and fails. So it goes to nosh on Jericho, but it misses.
  - Shane moves into line of sight and casts Eldritch Blast on D2 with a Nat 20 for 34 damage.
  - Pippinella casts a DDoS Mindspike on PS4. It saves on Wisdom and takes 7 damage.
  - Griffin goes to tango with PS4 - he rolls 17 and 20 to hit for 11 and 11 damage.

ROUND 3
  - D1 delays his turn. Uh oh.
  - S2 attacks Shane and hits real good with an 18 for 12 damage. They end their turn hanging out on Shane.
  - Serra runs up to Shane to cast Cure Wounds on his stupid ass. She heals him for 13 HP. She casts Mass Healing Word as a bonus action for 14 HP
  - D2 Polymorphs Shane into a tiny-ass spider in a swarm of spiders, but we don't know that she did that. All we know is that Shane disappeared again, which is just a thing he does, so should we be worried? Who knows!
  - D1 shoots Serra, but he crit fails to hit and his bow breaks.
  - Jericho does a double stab on PS3 with a 20 and a 22, for 19 damage.
  - PS4 attacks Griffin with an 18 for 9 Piercing damage. He Con saves and "only" takes 14 poison damage
  - Crimeny Shovel Knights PS3 for 23 damage. Then they use their bonus action to Hide, and continue moving forward.
  - Spider Shane crawls up Serra. He doesn't want her to scream and squish him. He rolls 7 Stealth vs her 15 Perception. Shane is screaming inaudible spider screams. Shane suddenly remembers he has a cat. It comes running out of the bushes it was in the whole time and also starts climbing on Serra.
  - Pip moves to just within 90 feet of D2 and hurls a 3rd level lightning Chromatic Orb. She hits with a 26 and does 20 damage. The sorceress saves on her concentration check and Shane is still a spide.
  - Griffin hits PS4 with a 15 and nat 20 for 21 (crit) damage and 13 damage. He bisects this motherfucker so hard he takes down part of the tree it was hanging out on.

ROUND 4
  - D1 moves further south.
  - S2 attacks Serra with a 17, which misses by 1. The Swarm is knocked prone (?) and it takes 3 damage. It's scattered now and will take a turn to reform. Shane also got blasted. He is flat on his back and takes 2 damage.
  - Serra casts Sacred Flame on S2. It fails its Dex save and takes 9 damage. All the spiders are immolated.
  - D2 moves south and casts Cloud of Daggers on Pip and Shane. It does 20 damage.
  - Jericho shoots at D2 with his crossbow and misses.
  - Crimeny uses their regular crossbow and hits with a 25 for 20 damage. Crimeny Hides again and sneaks closer to D1
  - Shane stands up and casts Eldritch Blast. He misses, and lays back down.
  - Pippinella casts Mind Spike. D1 fails his Wis save, and takes 8 damage. She moves back a bit; gives Shane some breathing room. She puts Sekilos on Shane's chest to comfort him.
  - Griffin moves up as far as he can and crossbows D1. He hits with a 23, and does 7 damage.

ROUND 5
  - D1 rages. He comes over and attacks Griffin. Griffin casts Shield but it's pointless because D1 crit with his first attack, and does 27 damage with it, knocking Griffin out. Good luck, everybody else!
  - Serra casts Cure Wounds on Griffin for 16 HP. He's not dead! :D
  - Jericho moves up 20 feet and shoots D1 with a 19 for 8 damage halved to 4.
  - Crimeny Snek Attacks. They hit with a Nat 20 and a 22. They do 39 damage halved to 20.
  - Shane Eldritch Blasts the fucking guy. He hits with an unnatural 20 and does 22 damage.
  - Pippinella casts a 3rd Level Chromatic Orb with lightning damage. She hits with a 21 and does 24 damage. She murders the hell out of him.

Griffin takes the berserker's +1 Greatsword. It's his now, bitch.

We've cleared the courtyard, and rush into the foyer. There are spiderwebs everywhere, the warm torch fire has turned cool and blue. There are a lot of dead gnomes. The room seems empty at first. The doors slam shut behind us. Ominous.

We look up to the sound of applause. Guarding the door to the next level of the citadel is a familiar face. Majnab the goblin is applauding our efforts.

Shane leaves.

Firo pushes past us, and scolds Majnab. He rips off his shirt.

Shane comes back.

On Firo's back is a full-color tattoo of a basilisk. He glares at Majnab and says, "We're ending this now." Majnab is delighted. "I thought you'd never ask!" He takes off his shirt also, and we can see part of his tattoo peeking over his shoulders and down his collar- it looks like wings.
