Mini-session

Griffin takes Serra to the Infernal Realm so they can do some shield training without their glamors.

The daytime sky in the Infernal Realm is like magenta twilight. The climate in Griffin's hometown is less Fire and Brimstone and more hot, dry, toasty cozy desert. The architecture has a sort of south-western, Mexican vibe, and the people living there are very much Midwest Small Town friendly. People are typically on a first-name basis with all of their neighbors where they live, and the population is just at that size where everyone almost knows everyone else - if not by name, then by face. For example, Person A might ask Person B who Person C is, and even if B can't outright name C, it's very likely that they at least know C's relation to one or two other community members.

The parents in the community all typically know whose child belongs to whom. Communal outdoor dinners are common across neighborhoods; there's no need to wait for a special occasion to host or attend a large gathering.

The population is, as would likely be expected of a town in the Infernal Realm, mostly made up of tieflings, but there are a goodly handful of other races living there as well. Most non-tieflings are human, but there's a handful of other magic folk - some elves, some dwarves - living there as well.

When Griffin and Serra get to Bel's shop, Bel is having a nap, so Griffin just takes Serra back to the training area and they do their thing.

While she's showing him some tricks, he asks Serra about where she learned this stuff, and about where she grew up.

He learns that her parents were both human, and were afraid of her when she was born so they gave her up to the monastery at Mt Celestia. She was raised by the Aasimar Paladins there, and everything was great until the monastery was attacked and destroyed by a band of Infernals. After that, Serra moved to the Earthly realm.

History Check time: Griffin remembers hearing about Mt Celestia as a child. There were some rumblings in town about something that happened that would raise tensions between the Infernal community and the Celestial community. He specifically remembers something about one of Empathy's brothers, Droggos. This uncle was really aggravated about something, and Griffin remembers him saying he was going to get to the bottom of something. Empathy insisted he not get involved, but he must have, and he hasn't heard anything from Uncle Droggos since.

Even though the mention of Mt. Celestia pinged this memory, he doesn't immediately do anything with it. He might ask his parents about it later.

Bel eventually wakes up with a crash and starts swearing a blue streak in Infernal. Shocked and appalled by such language, Griffin pokes his head into the shop to admonish him. "Master Bel, do you kiss your wife with that mouth!?"

Belligerence swears him to secrecy - Griffin can not tell Joy that he spends half the time in his shop asleep and the other half of the time repairing the chair he broke when he woke up. Of course Griffin won't tell Auntie Joy, he's not a snitch.

Griffin introduces Serra, they chat, Bel learns about the enchantment on Serra's shield. He then immediately and enthusiastically tests it out with a giant fuck-off axe, gets knocked on his ass, and is just supremely delighted.

Bel takes them home to dinner.

Joy has made a spicy Infernal Jambalaya, and when she hears Griffin has come back to visit again, she makes some delicious spice rolls that she wasn't going to make before. Bel begs Griffin to visit more often, because Joy never cooks this way when it's just him!! They gorge on delicious foods, stay the night, and in the morning have delicious breakfast burritos that are as big as their forearms. They do some more training before eventually heading home, loaded down with leftovers.

Griffin now knows some neat shield tricks.
