Daisy: Pet

Daisy is an Amethyst Spider. In canon she spends most of her time as a lifelike statuette the size of a real tarantula - that is, she can fit in Griffin’s palm. When she is summoned, she becomes a Giant Spider and grows to approximately the size of a bull mastiff. Once summoned she lasts for 12 hours or until she’s reduced to 0HP, whereupon she reverts to her statuette form. She can’t be summoned again until 24 hours have passed. In the campaign she’s basically an eight-legged dog - she adores Griffin and wants to be everybody’s friend.

Additionally, unlike Griffin, Daisy has an Intelligence modifier. It's only +1, but it's still pretty significant. Her Wisdom mod is 0, though, so between the two of them, they have one entire INT and one entire WIS.

In Avalon I expect the statuette thing will be nixed and she’s just going to be a full-time Giant Spider. As a thought, though, it would be fun to find a way to restore that versatility in game.

Pride and Joy: Sword

[personal profile] icastsword 2021-08-10 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
A fairly standard D&D staple. This sword has enormous emotional value to Griffin, as it was forged for him by his master. Depending on how it’s drawn from its sheath, the blade changes size and becomes either a longsword or a greatsword. As a longsword it inflicts Cold damage along with the standard Slashing. As a great sword it allows Griffin to channel his Hellish Rebuke ability as a more focused and powerful flame strike.

I'm fine nixing the enchantments if needed. As a note, the switch between longsword and greatsword is mechanical, not magical.

Providence: Shield

[personal profile] icastsword 2021-08-10 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Another fairly standard D&D staple. Providence is a round shield forged for him by his master from the same Damascus steel as Pride and Joy. The enchantment on Providence can be invoked once per day to create an area-of-effect healing aura that lasts for one minute.

Again, NBD if I need to take off the enchantment.

The Cloak of the Athelete: Cloak

[personal profile] icastsword 2021-08-10 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
An enchanted cloak that grants the wearer Advantage on one Athletics roll once per day. I don't expect that enchantment to transfer into Avalon since it's such a specifically D&D mechanic, so it's just going to be an ordinary cloak - but it was given to Griffin by Ærin, so like his sword and shield it's packed with emotional value.

Geneva's Glamor: Ring

[personal profile] icastsword 2021-08-10 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Given to Griffin by his mother, this plain silver band holds an illusion enchantment Griffin can invoke on the off-chance his government-issued glamor fails. Unlike a real glamor, it just drops an illusion over him to make him appear human. If his horns or tail are perceived, then the illusion will no longer affect the perceiver, but it's a good stop-gap to allow him enough time to get out of a public space. Like the rest of the belongings in his possession, this ring is of great emotional value.
